PostHeaderIcon Sail Banda 2010 in Moluccas Province

Sail Indonesia is an annual sailing rally now in its tenth year that departs from Darwin in the middle of July and is followed by a three month program of linked events across Indonesia. This year these events are managed jointly by Sail Indonesia, Sail Banda, The Navy Force of Indonesia, The Indonesian Marine Foundation Yayasan Cinta Bahari and The Indonesian Sailing Federation.

They are also supported by the Indonesian Central Government and the Local Government Centers at the destinations. This year the Government of Moluccas Province gets an honour as the host of this event that will be concentrated on Ambon Island, Banda Islands, and Kisar. Sail Banda is Indonesia's largest marine event for 2010.

Sail Indonesia 2010 will depart from Darwin on Saturday July 24 at 11 am and during the following 3 months the participants are invited to participate in a series of Cultural Festivals at the different stopovers across Indonesia on the islands of Timor, Banda, Ambon, Buton, Lembata, Wakatobi, Flores, Sulawesi, Bali, Java, Borneo, Belitung and finally on to Batam or Bintan just south of Singapore. In Moluccas Province the participants of the event could visit many interesting and amazing places such as; Sea Garden, Belgica Fort, House of Bung Hatta, House of Iwa Kusuma Sumantri, Agro Tourism in Banda, Natsepa Beach, Hunimua Beach, Pintu Kota Beach, Manuala Beach, Namalatu Beach, Pasir Putih Beach (Alang), Amsterdam Fort, Old Mosque (Kaitetu), Old Church (Hila), Siwalima Museum in Ambon, Historical and megalithic sites and villages in Kisar.

As in past years the Local Administration at each of these Indonesian islands has planned a number of events which include a ceremonial welcome and dinner as well as cultural and arts displays and also dance performances. The participants will be able so see some of the more remote parts of Indonesia as they cross the country away from the well worn tourist areas.At each of these stopovers they will be able to experience different peoples and their cultures, different lifestyles, different arts, different crafts, wonderful foods and of course different languages. Events that has been prepare by the Government of Moluccas Province divided in 3 (three) places; In Banda Island the events that prepared are: Welcome Party, Kora-Kora Attraction, Archaeology Exhibition, City Tour, Marine & Agro Tourism, Cultural and Art Night in Belgica Fort, In Ambon City the event that prepared are: Welcome Party, Traditional Ships Parade, City Tour / Marine Tourism, “Ambon Tempo Doloe”, “Jujaro Mongare” Election, “Layang-Layang” Festival, Cultural Carnaval and Farewell Party, and in Kisar Island the events that prepared are: Welcome Party, City Tour, and Celebration of The Anniversary of Republic of Indonesia.

Moluccas Province as the host of the events also prepare some programs to support the event such as; The campaign for awaken the people counsciousness on tourism, involved the official department that concern with the event, head of the villages, and the figure on the society. The object of the progam are; the society including owner of the homestay, the students, the drivers and the officers. The point of the program so that Sail Banda 2010 could be socialized, Banda, Ambon, and Kisar could be tourism destination and the National Government program’s “Sapta Pesona” could be materialized in Moluccas. The Government of Moluccas Province also try to develop the quality of tourism services including guides, this program will be held in Ambon, Banda and Kisar by Cultural and Tourism Office of Moluccas Province. The other program is promotion and publication of Sail Banda 2010 for the people in Indonesia and all over the world through television, radio, newspaper, magazine, billboard, screen electric standing in airport, and website.
