Historical Buru
Palumata Mosque
An old mosque which is not in good condition, lies on Masarete village in the forest. Beside the Palumata mosque is a cannon half buried in the ground, one of the Portuguese relics. These two ornaments have been removed to Nurul Iman Mosque, Masarete village.
Kayeli Mosque
An old mosque on Kayeli village, formally known as Kayeli mosque. In 2003 the mosque is 154 years old. This mosque is not well kept, and people do not use it anymore. In 2001, it was renovated and bearing a new name" Al - Hasan Al - Waelia" mosque because it was built during the period of the reighn of Hasan Wael King. The distance from the beach isappr. 200m.
Defencie Fort
The Defencie forts a Dutch fort, before was a Portugis fort, onKayeli village, 11 km from Namlea. It takes iout 1 hour to arrive there by sea transportaton. There is only the ruins of this fort left.
Monument
Near the road to Ubung village appr. 10 km from Namlea is the Monument to commemorate the landing of the Indonesian National Army on their extermination to drive away the South aluku Republic (RMS) militants in Maluku. he monument was built on July 14,1951 and Dr. Moh. Hatta, the first Indonesian vice president put the first stone for the monument. This monument was then inaugurated by Ir. Soekarno, the first Indonesian President. close to this monument, not far from Ubung beach is a cafe so you can enjoy the beautiful view while having snack and the" Karaoke" or sometimes live music.
